When looking at the grand structure that is Linton Manor today, it's hard to conceive that its origins lie in the conviction of a young Jewish man named Moses Moses.

Built in 1857 our grand estate is known for its history, construction and gardens.   The building consists of a ballroom, billiards room with full sized competition table, and state rooms such as our library, lounge room, and breakfast room.   The gardens consist of a courtyard, orchard, pond garden, themed gardens, rose garden and front garden.

It began its life as Alfriston Cottage, a generously proportioned cottage of simple design and the last building erected by that man. It still stands today as the core of Linton Manor.

In its second lease of life, as the home of J. P. Ritchie and his family, it became known as Linton in recognition of Ritchie's birthplace.

In its third, it grew like topsy into most of what stands today at the hands of one of Australia's greatest pastoralists, A. B. Triggs.

Subsequently gifted to the Returned Services League, it became refuge for over 100 war veterans. Following their relocation across the road, it was resold into private hands and became known as "Old Linton".

During and between each lease of life, Old Linton has seen the rise and fall of prosperity. It has seen two world wars and a host of lesser ones. It has also survived two major economic depressions. Through it all, it has stood as a quiet witness. In the words of Arthur Bryant Triggs:
The sun has not gone out of business, Only behind a cloud.

Now under the new name of Linton Manor, the home faces a new challenge; one of opening its histories and doors to those who have an interest in what makes Yass, and through it Australia, great.

More information on the property is available though books written by Stephe Jitts.   Such titles include: "Only behind a cloud, a history of Old Linton", as well as "Arthur Bryant Triggs"
