Our Sustainability
Where a lot of companies have applied the “eco Friendly” symbol as a marketing tactic, instead we take pride in being proud to present the following systems we have in place, so the public may know we are as eco friendly as we can be. The statements below are always evolving and will be updated regularly.
Solar Power
Linton Manor has gone through an extensive change, bringing solar power to the property. These solar panels total a 30KW system, which is large enough to power not only our property, but also place power back into the grid, allowing Essential Energy to provide other homes with green eco-friendly power.
Eco Friendly Organic Gardens
Linton Manor is privileged to have a enthusiast who knows his way around a garden! Gerry will be overseeing and be actively involved in the production of an eco-friendly, organic garden, producing all the fruits, and vegetables used across our entities. These gardens will be fertilized naturally by means of our compost bins, which you can read about below, and watered using recycled and boar water, located on our property. We also employ many different systems to produce our gardens including Aquaponics, Hydroponics and Wicking garden beds.
Compost Bins
Linton Manor gardens is pleased to say we have 8 organic compost bins in effect year round. These bins are regularly topped up with our organic waste including food scraps, bio-degradable packaging, used office supplies, shredded paper and animal waste produced on site. These compost bins provide organic, fresh, nutritious soil for our gardens.
Categorization of Waste
Our waste both as residents of Linton Manor, as well as a business, are sorted on site into categories. These categories include what can be re-used, what can be used in our compost bins, what cant be used on site but can be recycled, and our general waste. All of these categories are managed on site, and are controlled with strict rules to ensure the best results.
Minimization of Waste
Here, we are not only dedicated to the sorting and recycling of waste, but also the minimization of waste. The key systems we have in place include; using our own containers, where we collect all of our goods from local farmers and suppliers, we use our own containers to collect these goods. The containers cut down on waste by not allowing pre-packaging or the use of single-use plastics. For the few suppliers who insist on pre-packaging, we provide our own labelled containers for them to pre-package our order. Once these containers are used, they are cleaned and sanitized on site for re-use with future orders.
Eco Friendly Products
We have adopted a system where we complete a light observation of all the businesses we purchase goods and services from, to ensure their methods of production are sustainable, ethical and eco-friendly. This can include the processes, products they use, and methods of production, packaging and distribution.
